HONEY ISLAND, WHERE EVERYDAY, EVERY CHILD SUCCEEDS

Dear Honey Island Elementary Families,

I hope you had a wonderful and relaxing summer. It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 2009-2010 school year. We have many exciting things planned for our Circus Theme this year. The faculty and staff are gearing up for another fantastic school year and can hardly wait for your children to walk through our doors. The first day of school is right around the corner! I know everyone is anxious to buy school supplies, uniforms, and find out who their teacher will be. We will have our annual "Meet & Greet" on Wednesday, August 5th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Class assignments will be posted at this time. This will allow you to bring your supplies and meet your teacher. Please mark your calendars to attend! This is a come and go event.

Hundreds of hours have been spent getting the school ready for the upcoming year. Our teachers are rested, energized, and looking forward to providing your child with an excellent educational experience. Our office staff has also been working tirelessly to make sure we have a smooth beginning for the first day of school.

The key to a child's success is parental involvement. We encourage all parents to become active participants by joining the PTA and volunteering in the classroom. Teachers will also be looking for parents to volunteer to help with holiday parties, AR celebrations, various beautification projects, etc... If parents, teachers, faculty and staff work together to support one another and work as a team, students will achieve SUCCESS!

Enjoy your final days of summer, but be sure your children "shake off the cobwebs" with some math facts practice, reading a book, and maybe some journal writing. This first day will soon be upon us, at which time I look forward to seeing you and embarking on a rewarding school year, "Learning Under the Big Top" .
